  This is a difficult review to write as our family has been involved with Ventura Montessori School for over 4 decades as students, as parents, and as board members. This was truly a great school when the founding directress Mrs. VJ was in charge. Unfortunately, with the recent change in control to people with no experience running a school, let alone a Montessori school, VMS has become less than a shell of its former self and (in our humble opinion) is now only a Montessori school in name. In addition to the change in control at the beginning of the year, two of the school’s four teacher’s recently quit overnight. The school responded by having random unqualified mothers (with no Montessori training) step in and start teaching classes without informing the parents. When parents finally discovered what was going on and began to question the school’s response to the crisis, classes were doubled up and went from ~12:2 students to teacher/assistant ratio to 25:2 … a HUGE change in the quality of each affected class. This was also not immediately disclosed to parents … horrible for the children and completely unprofessional in the way it was handled. This once great school has been completely ruined and is spiraling down the drain ;-(
